Our Mission Activities Events Survey Contact About UsBronx, NY , May 2008 – Community Empowerment Network along with parents, non profits and civic leaders in the Bronx will engage residents in a series of workshops to empower their community. The workshops are scheduled to take place at the Bronx Library Center , 310 East Kingsbridge Road [at Briggs Avenue ], Bronx , NY 10458, on the dates specified below:
On Thursday, 5/8/08 from 10 AM - 1 PM, (Session I) 100 Blacks In Law Enforcement Who Care will conduct Community Policing Workshop(s) to educate participants on the proper ways they should conduct themselves and properly respond when approached by law enforcement.
On Friday, 5/9/08 from 6 PM - 9 PM, (Session II) Gang Awareness and Prevention will focus on engaging parents, children, schools and the community in gang awareness and prevention methods
On Saturday, 5/17/08 from 3 PM - 6 PM, (Session III) Una Mujer Transformada, (A Transformed Woman) will conduct a workshop that focuses on keeping families in tact. Also, a nutritional workshop will be conducted for the purposes of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
On Friday, 5/23/08 from 6 PM - 9 PM, (Session IV) Grassroots Initiative will connect communities to public decision-making. We are a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization based on creativity, innovation and testing the limits of what is possible. We ask tough questions and leverage community resources to get things done.
On Saturday, 5/31/08 from 3 PM - 6 PM, (Session V) The Civil Court of the City of New York will conduct a workshop that will assist everyday New Yorkers with resolving their everyday legal problems: where landlords can sue to collect their rent; where tenants can come to make landlords do repairs; where a consumer can sue a local merchant; or where any New Yorker can sue to resolve most cases involving amounts below $25,000.
